Non-Airport Car Rental Deal

Thanks to reader Julie for sharing this strong weekend offer from Hertz. Looks like the sale at non-airport locations that we’ve seen in the past. Pretty nice prices (for under 100 miles per day) starting at $12.99 per day. Good one if it fits your needs.

Hertz also just became the part of the SkyTeam airline alliance, so we’ll see what extra benefits start showing up. You already get status if you’ve got anything with Delta.

Edit: Well…it turns out “the past” was a post last month. Damn, I’m old.

Sale Stuff

Quick-fire thoughts on the weekly sales…

  • JetBlue (pretty subpar)
  • Alaska (their sales always seem the same – decent)
  • Southwest (somewhere in the solid-to-good range for them)
  • Delta (great once again – shoot me now)

Chase Sapphire Checking

Thanks to reader Ravi for sharing this one. Probably too expensive for most ($75,000), but some of you thick-walleted types might feel differently…

If you have:

  1. A Chase bank account.
  2. A Freedom or Sapphire card.
  3. Lots of cash.

Then take a look at the offer to upgrade your checking account for 60,000 Ultimate Rewards points.

PreCheck At Staples

Weirdest combinations:

  • Dairy and seafood.
  • Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton.
  • TSA PreCheck and Staples stores.

Thanks to reader Ryan for sending that last one. Such a strange pair to come together, but hey, I’m sure it will be useful to some.
