The New Jewel Of Maui

I’ve mentioned it a few times before, but Maui is my favorite place in the world. It’s my idea of heaven, as a matter of fact. My eyes have witnessed beauty in Maui unlike anything else they’ve ever seen. And they’ve seen some incredible things! I’ve been watching closely for months, waiting for the incredible Andaz Hyatt to open, and it just starting taking reservations for September. It’s very possible this will instantly become the best hotel in Maui. It will cost you, though, as rooms start at $500+.

How would a MileNerd play this? Well, if you’re on the west coast, British Airways points are great for short hop flights like this. LAX to Maui is just 25,000 points roundtrip! And if you’re a couple, you can both get a Hyatt credit card. Each will give you 2 free nights at any Hyatt in the world. So that’s 4 nights and 2 flights you won’t have to worry about. Sounds like a nice trip to paradise to me!

Convert Hotel Points To US Airways Miles

Through April 30th, get a 50% bonus transferring hotel points to US Airways miles here. Not great ratios for the big hotels like Hilton, but some of the lesser ones like Choice and Wyndham are decent. Definitely better options here than the current craptastic mile purchase “sale” from American.

Win A Million Hilton Points (Or More)

Hilton just devalued their points and must be feeling guilty about it. They’re giving away a million points here and 10 million here. The second link actually has a fun-sounding offer to a slot tournament in Vegas.

Easy Points From American Express

Many of you got in on the limited 100,000-point offer for an Amex Platinum card in January. If you did (or if you otherwise have the card), don’t forget to try for more points here. This is the simple enrollment for extended pay and can pay off with an easy 10,000 points. Those with an Amex Gold can still try to pick up 5,000 easy points for doing the same thing here.

Maldives Resort

Probably 90% of the answers I’ve heard to “Where would your your dream vacation be” come from 3 places. It’s either Hawaii, Bora Bora, or the Maldives. Hawaii is a little easier to get to (with cash or points), so Bora Bora/Maldives seem to be the most common dream exotic locations. Richard Branson’s Necker Island is in there too, but these seem to be the 2 biggies.

If you’ve been collecting points and miles for a while, you’re probably in position to plan a Maldives trip. It’s complicated I know, but definitely possible. Still, a lot of you are new to the game, and would like to go without points. For you guys, this is a rare sale on a nice property. Go to Jetsetter and search for Anantara Dhigu. Yup, it’s the one on the picture.
