BankDirect Gets Worse…Again
BankDirect, as many of you know, is very poplar with mileage hounds. They pay 100 American Airlines miles per month for every $1000 you have in your checking account. Since I started this blog, I’ve referred more people to BankDirect than any other company. Unfortunately, BankDirect doesn’t seem to care about their customers. They’ve reduced earnings, made bonuses harder to get, and today I found out what is the final straw for me…
It looks like they will be charging a $12 monthly fee regardless of your balance. If you do have a BankDirect account, it might be time to consider closing it.

If you’re a mileage hustler, it’s safe to say you have an American Express card…or 2…or 3. I just took a look and I have 6 of them. Here are the steps I’m taking to get a free $150:
- Register all your American Express cards here
- Today, November 26th, spend $25 or more at a small business (independently owned, non-franchise store or restaurant) with each card you registered.
- Within 2 statements, you get a $25 credit on each card (and you usually get it much sooner)
