What to do with Amex Membership Rewards Points?

Did you take advantage of my post from last month? If so, you are now the proud owner of a whopping 75,000 American Express points. Where to transfer these, you ask?

  • Continental/United would be a good place to have 75,000 miles. Courtesy of Greg P, any transfers to Continental must take place before the end of September.
  • Virgin Atlantic has a 25% bonus on transfers going on right now. It’s not an incredible offer because of all the fees Virgin charges on award tickets.
  • Also available is a 50% bonus on transfers to British Airways. This great promotion expires July 31st and is the highest Amex transfer to British Air I’ve ever seen. British also charges some big fees, but they have great partner airlines who don’t. This is a top deal.

All info is on www.membershiprewards.com. As always, if you don’t like the current transfers, just hold onto your points until something else comes along. For those who don’t have Membership Rewards points, keep reading and I’ll have another great Amex offer for you soon! These are some of the best points to have, with the big transfer bonuses that pop up all the time.

Citibank 75,000 Mile American Airlines Cards

These offers aren’t advertised links, but still work as of today. It’s worth taking a chance if you haven’t gotten either the 75,000-mile personal or business card yet…

The idea is to try to get a personal Visa and Amex on the same day (apply on different computers). Then wait 65 days and apply for a business Visa. You can pick up a total of 225,000 American Airlines miles if all cards are approved:

75k, Visa Personal
75k, Visa Business
• 75,000 American Airlines AAdvantage miles after $1500 spend in the first 6 months
• $85 annual fee ($75 for the Business card) waived for the first 12 months

The personal Amex has a higher spend, but you have 6 months to do it:
75k, Amex Personal
• 75,000 American Airlines AAdvantage miles after $4000 spend in first 6 months
• $85 annual fee waived for the first 12 months
